The Nomad Kayak Club is actively looking to form and support a completely new development team. The team will be made up of club members that are complete beginners to canoe polo, guidance will be provided by our experienced squad members. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the sport, there will be a number of local competitions that the team will play in, all teams will be of a similar standard. The club will make the necessary equipment available to all involved. Working party - Saturday 14th June from 10am to 1pm Bank improvement works to our sheltered training facility and polo pitch started this week and are expected to last for approximately 2 weeks. Whilst these works continue, help from Club Members is required to prepare for the fencing works and relocation of the containers/clubhouse. There will be a working party this Saturday from 10am to 1pm. Planned works include: Preparation of site boundary in advance of fencing contractor Relocate a 5m section of the bund Some tree lopping activity Preparation for positioning of shipping containers Preparation of ground for positioning of clubhouse Equipment required: Gloves, wheelbarrows, spades, garden forks, strimmer, rakes, loppers and a chainsaw. Rickmansworth Festival 2014 Feedback Across both Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of May the Rickmansworth Aquadrome hosted the annual Rickmansworth festival. The event is a prime opportunity for the Nomad Kayak Club to raise its profile, secure additional members and generally highlight the sport of canoeing. This year we were blessed with excellent weather which really made a difference, this good luck coupled with some fine planning from key members of the NKC committee saw us have probably our most successful event to date. Nomad Development Works Works to move the Club up to BLYM are due to start in the next few weeks. Bank improvement works to our sheltered training facility and polo pitch are scheduled to start on Tuesday 27th May. The fencing contractor is scheduled to start on 16th June. Help from all Club Members is needed to support the move. Two Saturday working parties to undertake advanced works prior to the main works starting are planned for: Working party 1 - Saturday 24th May at 10am to 12 noon Preparation of site for bank works including: Recovery of sunken pontoon, Removal of scaffold tubes along bank, Relocation of log seating, General tidy of area. Rickmansworth Festival Weekend 2014 – 17th/18th May Reminder, if you are able to spare some time and help your Club next weekend, whether it be for the whole weekend or a few hours on either Saturday or Sunday, please get in touch with Maria secretary@nomadkayakclub.co.uk and let her know how and when you are available to help. Wednesday Evening Recreational Sessions From this week, the ‘on the water’ start time of Wednesday sessions will be 18:30. Easter Sunday Recreational Session There will be a normal recreational session on Easter Sunday at 10am. Easter Monday Maintenance Morning On Easter Monday, in preparation for the summer season, there will be a general maintenance morning at the club house from 10am until 12pm-ish. The plan is to clean the recreational container, the equipment within and the club house. All are welcome as many hands make light work. Mid week evening recreational sessions will restart next Wednesday (16th April) at 6pm until 7.30pm. Please arrive shortly before 6pm, as until 30th April the Aquadrome gates are locked at 6pm (we have gate keys to let everyone out at the end of the sessions!) As of 1st May the gates will be locked at the later time of 9.30pm, so there may be the opportunity to start the evening sessions later than 6pm so that as many members as possible can attend. Sunday 23 March 2014 Three Rivers District Council are organising a Sport Relief Fun Run at the Aquadrome this Sunday. They are expecting approximately 500 runners from 10:00am to approximately 1:00pm. This means that the car park is expected to be extremely busy. If you are planning to join us for a paddle, please arrive extra early to allow time to park, or park somewhere off-site.

AGM Notification The AGM will be held on Saturday 12th April 2014 at the 1st Rickmansworth Scout Group HQ, 26 Ebury Road, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire WD3 1BN. Map Please arrive at 1830 so that the meeting can start promptly at 1900. There is limited parking behind the HQ but plenty of parking available in the town centre car parks.
