Summer is here!
So a slight change of session times is needed. Summer is finally here and club session times will be changing as follows: Sunday: 10am start Wednesday: 6.30 start Both sessions will last approximately 2 hours Please arrive at least 15-30 minutes before the start time to ensure that we can start promptly. Development Polo – 0900 on Sundays
The Youth and Development Polo sessions commence again this Sunday the 24th May at 9am and will run every Sunday at this time until Sunday 19th July. Every sessions will conclude with at least two ten minute games after which participants are welcome to stay on for the general polo session at 10:30 or return to the clubhouse to get changed. The sessions will particularly focus on improving boat confidence, paddling proficiency, strength and ball handling skills later leading towards working as a team to maintain possession and scoring to win. Subject to how players get on, we plan to enter a youth and/or a development team to the London International Polo competition that takes place in South London over the weekend of 24/26 July. Rickmansworth Festival 2015 Success
Rickmansworth Festival 2015 Chairman's Report I write to you at the end of what has been an extremely successful weekend for our great club. Across the 16th / 17th of May the Nomad Kayak Club supported the annual Rickmansworth Festival, the event was held at our home waters in the beautiful Rickmansworth Aquadrome. Rickmansworth Festival 16th/17th May 2015
Next weekend is the Rickmansworth Festival and your club needs your help to promote the club and let festival goers know who we are and what we do. This means we can recruit more members and remain a healthy and active club. To promote the club, we will have an information stand at the clubhouse and we will be running ‘Come and Try’ sessions on Saturday 17th at 1pm, 3pm & 4.30pm and Sunday 18th 11.30am, 1pm & 3.30pm. There will also be Canoe Polo Demonstrations on both days at 2pm. Help is required from 10am on both days. Over the weekend there will be no formal recreational or polo sessions but there will be plenty of opportunity for all members to kayak at some stage during the weekend. How…
Aquadrome Bridge Closure
3rd - 8th November Just a quick note to say that the Aquadrome Bridge is closed to cars for maintenance this week. Works are due to be complete by next week but there is a chance that it will take longer. Club members will have to park elsewhere and walk in on Wednesday. We will let you know if there are any updates.
Novice & Beginners Polo
Novice & Beginners Polo Training We are hosting polo training for novices and beginners every Saturday in October between 9am and 10.30am. You will need your usual change of clothes. Free for members of Nomads, the non-members charge is £5 a session. Novice & Beginners Polo League Do you want to play polo in competition with others of a similar ability, if so the Development League could be for you? Our first friendly tournament will be held in the aquadrome immediately after warm up training on Saturday 4th October and you are welcome to come along and watch or play. If you want to play please let Katherine, Malc or Chilly know before the day. Our second tournament is on Saturday 25th October in the evening at an indoor swimming…
Mid-Week Recreational Sessions
As of 1st October the Aquadrome car park closes daily at 6pm; this coupled with coach availability and ever decreasing daylight means that this Wednesday (24th September) will be the last mid-week recreational session of the year. Over the last 5 months, Wednesday evening recreational sessions have run continuously. Thanks to all members who attended the sessions particularly the coaches/experienced paddlers who ran/supervised the sessions. Mid-week sessions will restart again in April/May next year. Sunday recreational sessions (10am till 12pm) will continue as normal throughout the winter months.
