Trips for 2016

Sunday 17th April – Thames, Boulters Lock to Cliveden reach

Peter Scott will lead a round trip of 5-6 miles taking about 3 hours (plus lunch stop) on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames. Suitable for 1*+ paddlers comfortable with paddling for that long with half of it being upstream. Contact Peter directly if you want to go – his contact details are in the email about this trip and on the sign-up sheet in the clubhouse.

Meet: 10am at Boulters Lock car park, SL6 8JN, Lower Cookham Road near Maidenhead. Bring a packed lunch.

Sunday 15th May – Thames and St Patrick’s stream, Wargrave

Matt will lead a round trip of 4-5 miles taking about 3 hours (plus lunch stop) on the Thames and St Patrick’s stream, a lovely backwater with a good flow. Suitable for 2*+ paddlers comfortable with some upstream paddling. Contact Matt at trips@nomadkayakclub.co.uk if you want to go.

Meet: 10am at the little park by the river on the right of the A321 from Henley (RG10 8HZ) after Val Wyatt Marine and before the first house as you enter Wargrave. Bring a packed lunch.

June to September, 3rd sunday or weekend of each month

Various trips are preparation including Symond’s Yat, the Jubilee River at Taplow and the Tryweryn and/or Dee with a focus on coaching for new club members. More details to follow soon.

October, date TBA – A return to the Dart in Devon with Nick Moore

A classic grade 2-3 white water run for 2*+ paddlers with a good roll. Details to follow.

Sunday 20th November – River Ivel, Sandy

Ian Walker will lead a trip of 5-6 miles taking 3-4 hours on the river Ivel in Bedfordshire. Suitable for 2*+ paddlers comfortable with running or portaging a few weirs. Contact Ian directly if you want to go – his contact details will be in the email about this trip and on the sign-up sheet in the clubhouse.

Meet: 10am at the car park on the right just after the bridge over the Ivel on New Road coming from the A1 toward the Tesco at Sandy (SG19 1NX). Bring a packed lunch.

Sunday 18th December – Thames, Abbey Stream and Chertsey Weir, Laleham near Staines

Matt will lead a 5 mile circular paddle up the Thames and down a narrow side stream and a final play in Chertsey weir. 3 hours plus lunch stop. Suitable for 2*+ paddlers, as the first couple of miles are against the Thames. Contact Matt at trips@nomadkayakclub.co.uk if you want to go.

Meet: 10am at Laleham Ferry Lane second car park (past the campsite; nearest postcode is TW18 1SS). Wear warm clothes appropriate to December paddling and bring a packed lunch and a hot drink.
