St Patrick’s stream trip report

On sunday the 15th of May 6 Nomads and a friend enjoyed a beautiful day paddling up the Thames from Wargrave and back down St Patrick’s stream. The current was very strong, so the friend decided to enjoy the hospitality of the local boat club while the Nomads fought on past the lock to the lunch stop in a sunny field. Suitably refreshed it was only a little way further to the willow lined entrance to St Patrick’s stream which meandered back several miles through fields and luxury housing ghettos to rejoin the Thames.

The local fishing club had very kindly put up large signs advising caneoists to ‘be careful’, ‘because they regularly fish the river’. Hopefully they will remember to be careful too, because it is also regularly paddled.
