Surf Trip to Croyde Bay
Yes, it’s time once again for the ever-popular Nomad weekend trip to Croyde Bay. This year it will be taking place on the 4th – 6th May. This weekend is suitable for all club members and their families and comprises of canoe surfing / body boarding 2 hours before high tide. With a bit of luck we will be able to get two good sessions on depending on the moon. Nick and other experienced club members will be happy to coach on the water during this time if required. There is plenty to do in and around the area when we are not on the water. River Dart Trip
The weather has broken, the sun is shining and Nick has planned the year's first paddling trip for the weekend of the 16th and 17th of February. We will be paddling the Dart Loop on Saturday 16th starting at New Bridge (http://goo.gl/maps/g5Nwk) at around about 9:30am. This is a hugely popular classic grade 2/3 often used to introduce beginners to whitewater and the trip is open to anybody who is at a standard that can paddle the Legacy course. As well as being a great place to practice your whitewater skills with the benefit of some coaching from Nick this is an excellent social event on the Nomad's calendar. Video and photographs of Nomad Kayak Club needed!
We are now in the final planning phase of the 2013 Nomad Kayak Club AGM but to make it a success we need your help! One of the highlights from last years event was a video by Luke Theobald that was broadcast live to all who attended, it contained both video and still photographs from across the year and was then made available via our website. So, this is where you all come in :-) Luke is on the look out for suitable material to work on, we need you to pass him photographs and or video from which the 2012 video will be made. Just a quick reminder that we continue paddling through the winter and here are a few activities we have for you: Symonds Yat Trip 17/18th Nov We have a couple of spaces left if anyone is still interested. Please note most of our coaches will be coming to Symonds Yat so there is no supervised session at the Aquadrome on 18th November Swimming Pool Thursday 15th Nov meet 20.30 Practice your wet exits, support strokes or learn to roll! Club Update 16/10/12
Hi Everyone Thanks to all who made it to the Ivel on Sunday and well done to Viv and Benjamin for braving all the drops! It was a great trip and you can see the photos on the Nomad Facebook page For anyone happy to paddle in the dark we have our session as normal tomorrow – but we do need to be on the water by 6pm. Finally, back by popular demand, we have our last Symonds Yat trip of the season on the 17/18th November suitable for all levels. Details are attached and for more info see me at the club. Polo Update 12/10/12
Dear all, You may have noticed the nights are drawing in! After the clocks change at the end of the month Monday night sessions will stop until the clocks change again in the spring. Sunday and Wednesday sessions will continue as usual. Wednesday sessions will be fitness and boat skills training on the canal. Several of the teams are looking for good results this season and this will only be possible if people put the effort into training over the next few months. There will be a session for the next two mondays but not on the 29th of October. The Aquadrome gates are closed at 6pm now so please try to get to training on time if you can.
