As the nights are drawing in I just wanted to remind everyone that we continue paddling through the winter (subject to the depth of ice on the lake!) Wednesday Nights Our recreational sessions are as normal for the next 2 weeks, after that there will be the opportunity to join the polo guys for fitness training on the lake starting at 18:00 each week.  All abilities are catered for. Hi Everyone. Just an update on the activities we have over the next few weekends. Sunday 2nd September Rob is taking the usual lake session at 10 am. As many of our experienced paddlers will be at the Tryweryn, we ask that all 10/11 year olds have an adult on the water to supervise. Sunday 9th September We have our normal at 10am followed by a new starter session at 11:30. We have a few spaces left if you have any friends who are interested in joining the club, first come first served. Dear All, I hope you enjoyed todays weather – lets hope it lasts a little longer! Due to the Bank Holiday, next Sunday 26th August there is no session at the Aquadrome, however we will be running a day paddle on Monday instead.  The trip will be suitable for anyone who is able to paddle for a couple of hours and if you need a boat then we can do pick up on Wednesday.  Please let me know if you are interested and I will send you the details later this week. On Saturday the 24th of June Nomads Kayak Club took a trip to Bedfordshire, at the River Ivel. The journey up there was a long and painful one as Jenny’s car only managed to reach 40 mph on the motorway. After about an hour and a half we did reach the drop off point where we dumped the stuff and I was left looking after the kids and boats, which was highly amusing with the ideas we were coming up with to lose the adults’ boats (one was to take their boats and leave ours so they couldn’t fit, then we realised they had Arthur…). Just a quick update on what we have going on over the next few weeks in addition to our normal Sunday/Wednesday Sessions: 21/22nd July Join us in North Wales for our Dee/Tryweryn trip. We’re meeting at JJs on Saturday at 12 noon to paddle the Dee.  We’re camping at www.tyncornel.co.uk in Bala and paddling the Tryweryn on Sunday. Sunday 4th August Nick is running a trip to the Nene Whitewater Centre, Northampton, NN4 7AA.  We can meet either at the Aquadrome at 12:00 to sort cars and share the cost of travel, or at 14:00 at the Centre.  This trip is suitable for paddlers of 2 star standard or above who are confident on Symonds Yat Rapids, The Coy Carp, the Ivel wiers or anything similar.  More details about the centre can be…

This Sunday (the 24th June) we will be running a trip to the River Ivel in Bedfordshire, suitable for members who can paddle for about 3 hours and are happy to shoot small rapids. BOAT COLLECTION: Wednesday 20th June at the club session and don’t forget to take a helmet, buoyancy aid and spray deck if you need them. MEET: 9am at the put in (52.119921, -0.283445) - see map to River Ivel put-in. TAKE OUT: Layby on the A1 North of Tempsford Village Hall SG19 2AW - see map to River Ivel take-out. FINISH: About 2pm Please bring lunch, drinks, sunblock and appropriate clothing. The Ivel is a primarily flat paddle with 3 or 4 very nice waves (depending on water levels) to play on and a 3m drop. Summer has officially started!!  Today for the first time this year we had ALL of our plastic boats out on the water.  So if you want a particular boat then make sure you’re early! Just a reminder that there is no session on Sunday 3rd June due to the bank holiday, however we are here on Wednesday 30thMay and 6th June at 17:45 to get on the water at 18:00. And a date for the diary, Sunday 24th June we are planning a trip to the Ivel in Bedfordshire.  This trip is suitable for anyone who is able to paddle for 3 hours and shoot small rapids.  We’ll meet at the put in so please collect your boats on Wed 20th June.  More details nearer the time… See you on the water soon!
